Character development ( Lit version)

First. The point of this thread is to discuss your character's development, bounce ideas off of other people and just get thoughts out in general. This is for your own stories, not for roleplay characters!

Anyway, I might as well start with recent character developments and changes.

I've recently redesigned a few characters in a number of ways:
I changed Amarantha Kat's name and official hair colour, she's now Katzen (no longer called Kat) and her hair is no longer firetruck red, it's more copper. I also changed her eye colour to a more natural green. She'll still be drawn with the firey red hair and forest green eyes (which has never actually been her canon colours anyway, they just look better on paper ) but when I draw her in canon she'll look a little more natural. When it comes to the name I'm tired of people thinking I'm talking about me when I'm talking about my character and vice versa, that and it's a better name for a fantasy character anyway. I also changed her weapon poficiencies. She can no longer use a glaive for attack, she can only defend with it. She has a higher speed but she carries fewer knives. I changed her blade design for her wrist mounted knife. I changed her past a little and her role in the 'royal assasination' story arch.

I changed Lenora's hair from blue to white with a blue shine and I made her hair shorter - to her rump when braided. Her hair was really way too long for what the character does in her story. Hair to your heels when braided may be pretty, but it's not practical for running, or walking really and the idea that her hair was long enough to hog-tie her was concerning.
I changed Cadwynn's back story a little, and have finally settled on her ending.

I've changed Morana's back-story a little. While she was still orphaned by a civil war she's not taken into an orphanage, she runs off and survives a few months by herself before being caught for stealing. This is due to making a change in the name system involving orphans, and the fact that I changed her age. I also changed her hair colour to one closer to a high red saturated auburn.

I changed Lavania's heritage, country of origin and her family's form of income. I also made a minor change to her body type and her hair. Her body is still on the waify side but she's got a little more meat on her bones and when she gets older she actually gets boobs and hips. Her hair is also now only to her middle thighs and when she gets older she eventually cuts it to the small of her back.

I changed Kunori's hair color to a dull copper, changed his hair style to one similar to his ancestor, changed his eyes from green to brown, I changed his physique from that of a thief's to that of a spear/lance fighter and hunter. I added piercings, tatoos, and changed his skin tone. I changed a few facial features so that his nose is less 'pretty boy' and more 'man.'

I made a few minor changes to melon. Herhair is a bit closer to new-sprout green rather than "Holy hell that girl's hair is made out of a lime!' green. I also changed her fur tone slightly so that it's not so POP against her skin tone.

I changed annushka's back story and her position in her tribe.

I changed Anca's back story and her ending.

I changed Aldal and Altaice's stories a bit. Aldal is now able to use stilettos and can use a bow. Altaice is a purely magic based fighter now.

I changed India's story a great deal.

I redesigned Faina to look a lot more femenine without the hair style being like that of my other femenine characters.
I changed Dieter's back story and the number of brothers he has. I also changed the number of wives his father has had from one to two and made Eudes, Marley and Olran Dieter's, Dominan's, Obien's and Eripo's half brothers. It's not believable that one woman had 18 children, even if they were all twins.

I compleatly removed the 2nd Gen chimeras from the wanderer chronicals and moved them to the Mage Wars where Melon shows up again. I may have twig show up in Reine's or Elza's story for a short period of time so that people will know what 2nd Gen chimera are if the Mage Wars ever get written.

I trashed Reine's back story and totally re-did it. She no longer has "Selective amnesia", she just doesn't want to go home, and she embarks on her journey with Mirosla instead of just running off.

I changed Mirosla's back story, he's a part of the Livosa clan rather than the Livius clan. He is also using a short spear as his main weapon and his sword is his back up weapon. I also removed ALL offensive magic from his character, this includes some of his 'support' magics such as the spell to start camp fires. He is now a part of the Mage wars. He is also a decade and a half older.

I changed Cariadu's back story and made him a part of the mage wars. His is of the Loivas clan now rather than the Liviosa clan. I took away ALL of his defense based magic and gave him a shield. He now uses a small sword as a weapon.

I edited a few things about Edward and Elzabeth. They are half siblings rather than Elza being adopted. Elza can use light weight weapons to defend and can use projectiles to attack. Edward now uses a modest weight lance and a stilletto to attack. His magic is now all 'curse' based so he is unable to use attack spells without the time to create them.

Reiz is now a year older (30) and he can see magic when it causes a physical reaction ( Aka: He can see the light from a magical fire, even if he can't see the fire.) and he gives up his right to take the throne.

Era's backstory has been revamped. She's chronologically older and is a more distant decendant of Lenora.

Morana's lover has been changed from a Shield mage to a general support mage to explain the decendant's ability to cast so many support spells when there are no other mages with that ability in the bloodline.

Dinah now parts ways with Eneild sooner, she also hates cats to the point that she instills it in her daughter. (those of you who know who Dinah's the Great grams of are now free to laugh your asses off.)

Eneild has two offspring who stay in the tribe.

Hm. Let's see. Recent revisions...

Era (character courtesy of Kat) doesn't just appear for a short stint with Juu in his medieval heyday. She reappears early in Kat's (character courtesy of Kat) life as an adopted sister, and takes care of Kat/Juu's three children - Fenrir, Alessa, and Aleister, after Kat passes away between "Wonderland Was Never Enough" and "Cry Little One".

Era's ending to the story has, thus, been rewritten.

I found the old character bios for various characters I used to employ in my writings, and they're being revamped to be fit into the scheme of things. This includes Arashiki.

Between the 5 year time-skip in Juu's medieval heyday (Still haven't thought of names for the segments yet), there's now a portion of story centering on Juu and two of his apprentices. One is our priorly-mentioned, newly-rewritten Arashiki, the other has yet to be named. It's set to be the second installment of the whole piece, but is crucial for future segments.

Kat's death has been altered.

Morsereg's latter days have been reworked a little.

More horrendous acts have been added to the roster of things that Juu and co. have accomplished, which includes the explanation as to why there's no Elves by the time "Wonderland Was Never Enough" rolls around.

Canis is in love with Araneus. Before anyone goes "eww, pedophilia", please note that the Canis present on this site is at a different time in his story than the Araneus present here. By the time the story rolls around, Araneus is in his 20's. Canis is still a good 10/15 years his senior, but it's not pedophilia anymore. It's also not in the open, and never openly stated - just implied.

The plot of "Cry Little One" has regained its position as darkest plot of the whole piece that it held at first but then drifted away from as the plot shifted. The plot is completely different from the original plan, but it has regained its role as darkest, which is befitting seeing as how it's planned to be the last segment.

That's all I can think of that I've done recently.

I'm working on a mini installment revolving around Morsereg. That should be interesting.

More changes: (I'm actually going down a list of my characters over time.)

Orion is with Kat and Melon during the first meeting with Era. He also has a more fleshed out history and has at the least a Cameo in The Mage Wars.

Reiz joins the group in a different way.

Elly has been mildly re-designed, his motivations have been fleshed out as has his character. He also has a sooner appearance.

Juu appears off and on during parts of the story before he makes a formal appearance.

Juu and Era are now in Mage wars! YAY!!! XD

Melon's abilities have changed a little, she also has a new ability that makes her vital to the plot. Finally.

Meabh has been edited a little.

Lord Eric's wife and Child have been given the names Annita and Naiyome.

Lord Eric himself has his own story that overlaps with a part of Morana's and goes on for about three years after her's. His past has obviously been changed since he died shortly after Morana did in the original ending.

Eneild and Dinah's story is being worked on, Dinah has began the process of being re-designed.

A few edits: (Note, only a couple of these will be implemented in RPs since for example in DR Reine's nobility is plot-vital. Dieter's was just for shits and giggles and to explain why he didn't have a two-part name)

Dieter's CANON eye colour is brown. In RP's they will be blue.

Dominan gets into spying by pure accident (Or so he'll have people believe). His usefullness in the field is cut short by an accident. He gets a dog as a puppy and names him coco, thinking he'll be a fluff ball. So said dog not only happens to be a fluff ball but is a newfoundland ( sp? ) so he's also a MOUNTAIN.

Reine and Dieter's bloodlines officially have 0 nobility in their background. They now happen to be from countries with different naming customs from most of the rest of Amarantha.

The new spellings of the Sorelinn brothers have been made canon. Reiz gets to keep the spelling of his shortened name because Reyz is an altered spelling of Reiz done by his mother and he knows it. I've made a few personality changes to Neil since in canon he seemed to suffer from 'mama's boy syndrome'. I've made a very mild edit to Reiz as well, changing it so that his abilities lay more in wit and speed than a speed/power mix, this has been in the RPs but it was different in canon. I edited it so that Keir becomes a general. Keir's personality needs to be worked on a little as it's board flat.

I eventually state who Katzen's father is in WT1 since the whole "Elly's brother could be her father, gasp! She could have royal blood!" was fucking annoying me. It was amusing at first but realizing that since it's loosely implied people would assume... yeah. Katzen's not got a drop of royal blood in her.

Meabh is no longer naitive to antella. She has fewer movement restrictions than in DR.

Kunori now has an adversion to shirts, just for my amusement.

Melon's appearance has been tweaked a little so that her older appearance makes more sense.

Afra and Akilah have swapped. Akilah is now the mage, femenine in appearance while Afra is the spiritualist and has the tomboy appearance.

I've edited the abilities for the following characters in the following ways:
Katzen's self healing ability takes more energy from her than before. This lowers her magic stamina a bit to make up for her physical stamina which was added in a prior edit.
Dominan actually has two abilities now, the ability to have no presense (an automatic one ) and the ability to detect lies ( one that takes concentration and practice.)
Dieter's precog abilities get stronger faster but it eventually stops growing.
Reine's magic has a few more restrictions since I realized she could get REALLY powerful if they were not in place and knowing Reine... heh, I don't think I need to elaborate.
Faina's ability is a little stronger, she can't use weapons so it is to balance things out.
Akilah's magic is now coin based, I'm working on the exacts but I'm thinking that coin flips will deign weather or not her spell works. This will absolutely NOT be implemented in an RP until I get the details worked out.
Afra's power comes from using up evil spirits. She also has mild precog now.
Reiz's ability no longer allows him to HEAR spirits.
Lavania is now more flexable and will get basic self defense skills... cause I realized non-mage, traveling dancer, unable to defend themselves... no last long.

First off, the introduction of Taegan Firoz III, my latest character. He made a deal with Juu for love that went sour (Perhaps with direct involvement by Juu, haven't flattened out that aspect yet), and in such was forced into service. Originally intended to be a Druid, he now spent his life before he shows up as a decoy for various royal families, as he can shift his shape into any person or thing he desires. Eventually he is promoted in rank around the time Alessa is born, and becomes her caretaker.

Delitui's story has been tweaked a little, he now assumes his identity with help from a Dark Elf named Nepenthe, who has it out for our dear Master Sadist-in-Chief, Juu, for slaughtering most of his race.

"Wonderland Was Never Enough" and "Cry Little One" have been excluded from the narrative. WWNE will still be written as a side project (unrelated to the series), but CLO will only show up if the ending of WWNE calls for CLO to show up with it's ORIGINAL plot intact (the updated plot was way too modern-day.)

Katzen has, such, been brought in with Reiz and Faina (characters courtesy of Kat) for some flavor. She never has any sort of love relationship with Juu in canon (though WWNE is still in the air). Faina eventually marries into the Yukio family with Chryses.

Lucio has had a genealogy shift to reveal himself as Matthial's bastard son (Elven mother that survived the Elven Genocide that Juu committed). He has a tail as a result of Juu not being there to help his power shape itself (since Juu created Matthial's entire race). While this tail is canon, it won't appear in Memento Mori. Maybe if he shows up in a different one.

Juu and Era end up with two kids - Chryses (who Juu doesn't even know about until he's around 20 considering he was conceived just before Juu had Era sent away) and Alessa.

Alessa ends up with Morsereg, and they have one kid, a male, Fenrir (originally Kat/Juu's kid).

Chryses ends up with Faina, and they have one kid, a current unnamed male. The character is Aleister, but he needs a new name, as it is definitely the ONLY Yukio name I'm not happy with. After Wikipedia told me "Ariel" is a unisex name, that very well may end up his name on account of the mental instability of his parents.

I've narrowed Dieter's allergy to the powders made of Turmeric since curry is a broad term. *used wikipedia for something less 'DAMN IT' worthy.*
