Sailor Moon for me too . . . then Pokemon. That was long before I knew what anime was.
My first anime that I actually knew was anime was Final Fantasy: Unlimited. It was like an acid trip with Chocobos, but I still love it. It's cute, it's simple, and it exists on a whole new plane of bizarre.

Tenchi Universe was the very first for me. You have to love those love/scfi/space pirate/ princess/ dective. stories
the next one I saw was Dragon ball Z because it swicth time slots with tenchi. and then I wacthed whatever I could get my hands on. Ps Vegta is the best DBZ charater.

Tenchi Muyo! was the first for me. First that I knew was anime, anyways.
And it still holds a special place in my heart - it's one of the few animes that I still watch.

although i didn't know it at the time... i did see an old anime VHS of a story known as "The adventures of the little prince" or something along those lines. i only really remember something about a rose that liked to complain and a very tiny planet... and they the little prince went to many planets... i don't remember if i saw this before or after Sailor Moon (which i dub my first Anime) but i just remembered i should put it out there...
another anime i saw when i was little was Blue seed... i only saw one volume because it was rented... but i know it was after i started watching Sailor moon and before i got into Pokemon...
having now seen it all i can't believe my father let me... no more like encouraged me to watch it... yes... my father likes anime, specifically Sci-fi or mech anime... which leads me to believe i was also exposed to Macross or Robotech (i never remember which is the english release name) since it has been my dads favorite series.
that and the other day i heard a song i had been humming all my life and i didn't know where i picked it up from... i ran into the other room and Macross plus was playing... a series we own but i've never sat down and watched...
ah yay for rambling about old anime we have seen as kids...

It's hard to say what my first anime was. there are so many from my childhood that i never really realized were anime until much later.
I would guess either Dragonball or the original Transformers. but th one I tend to think of as my first real anime was Record of Lodoss War. which was awesome.
Oh, and Robotech (an english dub of Macross). that was another of my early animes.
