Ship of Misfits [Rated M ] |
|
[RATED M: may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.]
Rules:
1: Read all of the below!
2: No god modeing or puppeteering.
3: No blocking!
4: This should be a no brainer by now, but be at least a little realistic! Your 10 year old monkey is NOT going to be a master of every form of martial arts out there, if even one. I WILL call you out if I see this going on.
5: Keep the setting in mind, if someone keels over in the middle of the street the odds are it's not going to draw a crowd.
6: Please, try to include everyone.
Base info:
Plot type- somewhat open.
Setting- It expands but is initially confined to the ship. The word is post renaissance
Format- whatever you’re comfortable with, just try to be somewhat detailed, a person can’t drink something you don’t pull out and hand to them.
Rating- PG 13, personally I don’t care about the rating as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.
Character limit- There is no limit to the number of characters you can have, within reason. Multiple characters are encouraged!
Literacy level- Taip3 laik d1$ and I’ll scream. Other wise, as long as we can understand you all is well.
Setting:
In the world Jauk, sea travel is the primary way to get around. The planet is nearly entirely water. To be exact, there is only one discovered continent. However, there are a large number of islands, so many that a number are within a day’s sailing. The world is over all peaceful, the continent supplying defenses for the many islands, as well as a police force.
Magic takes a back seat to skills and the occult in this world. While it exists it’s not particularily common, nor is it powerful.
Plot:
The Night’s Hollow is a ship that travels the world, going from port to port, often times picking up the area’s outcasts. The ship is without any real goal, occasionally taking on illegal freight in order to pay for supplies.
The ship’s captain is a strange, mysterious man by the name of Morsereg Dindaedel. He rules over the ship with only a few rules. 1. You pull your weight. 2. You follow my orders. 3. You don’t cause trouble. 4. Do not get the captain wet. Disobediance is punished severely.
His second in command is Luzia ‘Luz’ Thallio, a woman with a loud mouth and a ‘you ask, I tell’ policy about her past. Almost as though she is the opposite of her superior. She has a lot of cheek to her and is silver tongued when she wishes. Her loyalties seem to be to Morsereg.
As of now, The Night’s Hollow is at port in the city of Futhall, their first stop in weeks.
--
Luz let out a groan as she stretched, her muscles stiff from unloading their latest cargo. This woman hardly looked capable of lifting and carrying boxes, being short and small. Her height was a little over 5’0 and her size looking quite petite, however, over the years she’d developed what was needed to lift large objects, and relatedly, surprise a lot of people. This spit fire of a woman was in her late 20’s, somewhat muscular, with somewhat tatty brown hair that was cut short and needed a good brushing.
Her hazel eyes overlooked their empty storage compartment with pride. They’d done good work. “Well,” She started, taking one last stretch, “The rest of the night’s free for whatever we want to do!” She proclaimed with a grin. As was usual, when they docked and got all of their work done the rest of the night was theirs. Luz smirked, already knowing what she wanted to do.

Chi-ec of Axlotl put down the last of the crates he was carrying. The lizard-man straighten to his full 6`7 height, wiped dust from his blue scaled hands. “yessss, we are finally done unloading thisssss cargo!“ The man beside him wiped dust of his clothes, most of which were red, and looked to his friend. being five inches shorter that his reptilian comrade, Molan Havelock the Crimson Corsair, had to look up to meet Chi-ec`s eyes. “what do say about hitting the tavern, Chi-ec“ “An Exsssellent ssuggessstion.“

Luz looked to the two and grinned. "Oi! You two heading that way too?" She said, knowing the answer and not stoping to hear it again. "I hear this port has a real good one a five minute walk from here. Get's rowdy and all that bump."

By the time they reached the tavern, he had already taken to..."claiming" it, if you will. He sat at a table in the corner, knife laid out in plain view on the table as if an open invitation for someone to try and pick it up. By those nursing wounds around him, there had been quite a few takers already. One unlucky soul lay bleeding to death in the corner, the other patrons of the room unaware to his blight as they drank away their own worries, drowning out the cries of the man as they jeered at every lady they saw.
"Pathetic scum," He muttered to himself, taking a sip of whatever foul alcohol they had given him. A ship's captain with blue eyes...well, that was nothing new. Eyes as blue as the sea he loved so dear, or whatever that rubbish. Yes, his eyes were as blue as the seas. As blue and as icy as the frozen waters of Cocytus, the River of Wailing.
His black hair, normally just past his shoulderblades, was pulled back, a hat set on top of it. You know the type. The large, pirate-type hats that one often sees in film. One particularly daring fellow thought it would be a nice joke to approach the man and take his hat.
He was shot in the chest.
Five times.

Luz took a deep breath as she entered the tavern. "Ah, the smell of booze, people who I don't know and cheap tobbaco." She said this and contenued into the crowd of people, holding back a yelp as some one pinched her behind. "And then there's that." She said lightly, not making it clear if that was a good thing, or a bad thing. She looked around a few moments before spotting a bar stool that was untaken and pinching it. Doubtless, if she'd seen their captain she chose to leave him to his fun for now. If for no other reason then she'd not like bing mistaken for a knife pilferer.

"Barkeep!" His coarse, gravel-like voice called over the dim, "This poor fellow infront of my table is in need of your assistance. I'm afraid he's found himself perished," He lifted up his murky glass to notice that there was nothing left to the drink. Two barhands came over, one male to haul the body away while a female came to refill his drink. She was young...alot younger than he was in truth, and young than he looked. She tossed a tempting smile his way - she was used to his type around here, perhaps even enthralled by them. He'd find out before setting sail again. She was petite, too...A tease indeed. Oh, ye Gods, you jest. Throw something like this at me here.
He returned the smile with a hint of some old fashioned sea faring fun hiding behind it. "That's fine, thank you," He cut her off as she finished filling his glass, hand brushing up against her breast as he reached for it. She tried to shake it off with a laugh...it was something she was used to in these parts, with the company that usually filled this bar. Atleast this man didn't seem to want to take her right then and there.
Well, atleast he didn't seem like he was going to.

Luz turned her head at the sound of her captain's voice. She grinned as she watched him. She'd join him after a bit. But for now, she'd have fun of her own, watching his moves and paying attention to anyone who caught her fancy.
For the moment, she turned back to the barkeeper. "Oi, Pint me my man." She said, sounding more like a guy than her phisyque said she could.

The barkeep filled a tankard and placed it on the bar next to Luz with a clang. He then sighed and said "I wish my regulars were smart enough not to tempt fate like that. well I'm just glad that dead sod wasn't one of them. and that he paid his tab before he croaked."
Chi-ec was scouting for a free table as Molan went to get drinks. The barkeep asked him "what are yah drinking, mate?"
Molan slowly and calmly gave his order, "Rum for my friend over there and for me....Milk"
The tavern became completely silent. everyone was staring at Molan.....Who broke out laughing. between laughing fits he said "I can't...believe I...said that with...a straight face!" He wiped a tear from his eye and composed himself. "but seriously, we'll both have rum."
as the Barkeep hand Molan his drinks the tavern returned to it's normal buzz. Over at the table he had claimed Chi-ec shook his head. "I wissh he'd ssstop ussing that joke. He doesss it every time."
(you have no idea how long i've wanted to use that gag in a pirate tavern scene)

(You have no idea how long it took me to get it. XD Cause I really like milk XD )
Luz snickered, personally still finding the joke charming. Then again she sometimes drank at bars away from the rest of the others so she didn't hear it all the time. She almost took a swig of her drink, but paused. "OI. Molan. Want to see who can drink the fastest?"

Molan Handed Chi-ec his drink and grinned. "is that a challenge i hear? You're on! let the drinking begin!"
Molan began chugging down his drink.
(got the idea for that gag from an old pirate movie "long john silver's return to treasure island" were the landlady is always giving him milk instead of rum. which he always grumbles about and doesn't drink.)

Luz grinned and started to chug her own drink at a fairly decent pace. In the end, she laid her mug down just after Molan finished his rum. She smirked. "Damn. Got closer this time, I'll wager."

Molan flashed his trademark devil-may-care smile. "aye you're getting closer. you may actually beat me one of these days."
Chi-ec sighed and shook his head "cocky ass alwayssssss. one of thessse daysss your attitude will get you in to deep trouble. and I'll have to bail you out. again."
"that was one time...and how was I supposed to know she was the governor's daughter?"
Chi-ec just shook his head again.

"Oh, I will win someday." She looked to the barkeep and motioned for a second drink. As soon as she'd gotten her refill and looked back to the crew mates, She'd found the place to have gone silent, many of the regulars looking at the doorway where a cloaked figure stood, petrified by the looks he was getting.

Molan turned and followed the gaze of everyone else. "it never ceases to amaze me how everyone always seems to focus on the exact same things at the same time."
Molan turned to the barkeep and said, "oi, a refill and one for the cloaky one." once the Barkeep gave him his order he swaggered up to the cloaked figure and offered the drink, "word of advise, mate. dispite popular belief, cloaked figures tend to stand out, rather than blend in. I'd suggest plain clothing of dull grey or brown to avoid attention."
